Notes from the composer:
These themes are my first piano compositions. I decided to combine them into a medley around 2021, creating The Legendary Princess and the orchestral single, Fantasie. This piece is in D minor and sometimes D dorian, where the 6th note is raised by a half step. This combination is also used in the tune, Greensleeves, which you may be familiar with as the Christmas carol, What Child Is This?
These themes were imagined as soundtracks for my original story that I began writing around age 13. I recently found the notes, chapters, maps, and character designs. I might share some of the interesting stuff someday.
The opening and recurring motive is called Princess Breisandali, but since that might not make a lot of sense without the story I was writing, I decided to take out her name.
I think that the second theme was either named for a castle or a knight, but I actually can't remember what I named it! This was the first one that I wrote and I started creating it after playing In The End by Linkin Park by ear for my younger brother. The chord progression is pretty similar!
The third theme is called Song of Peace. I wrote Song of Peace while I was processing the September 11th attacks as a middle school student. This was therapeutic for me.
The fourth theme is called The Legend of Kanali. While Last Legend (To Kanali) has a similar title, these pieces were written 20 years apart!
Many of my friends and family have named this as their favorite piece, along with Willow Tree by the Brook. I just want to say, on behalf of my teenage self, thank you so much. I'm so glad I had the courage to record these and put them on an album!
